Translating Poetry

Translating poetry can be a very hard task if one does not give the necessary

importance to word-nuances. By that I mean that almost every word must be

looked up, checked out in it different meanings, and adjusted to the poetic

text through grammar and its connotation. Usually, this can be wisely done

by reading the previous and the next stanzas to be certain that the translation

fits the context. Another important factor is the coordination of the rhythm

and rhyme of the stanzas so as to create the unity of the poem. The whole

process is a cognitive one that allows the use of our intellect and insight.
