Hybrid Forms in Literature

I think that the new hybrid forms assimilated into a literary text add an innovative touch to the texts. A poem which opens a chapter or is inserted within the plot of a novel enhances the author's intention and/or the character's motivations and
emotions, hence strengthening the meaning of the text. These features work especially well in shorter pieces like flash fiction
and novellas because poetry is connotative, symbolic, and elliptical.
Poetry condenses and intensifies meaning in prose texts.
One could think of inserting poems with classical forms like the sonnet to intensify romance or unrequited love; or the ballad
to add local colour and/or legendary material to prose texts.
