The recent attacks on writers show that the freedom of expression continues to be under attack. Writers are maimed for life, journalists killed. Is there an immediate solution for this situation which, undeniably demonstrates the lack of comprehension and respect that we, as human beings, owe to each other and to others who are different from us. I think that the hatred thrown out against writers and/or journalists is the feat of individuals or groups who neglect a changing world. In fact, these individuals are either stubbornly conditioned and/or refuse to abandon their conformity to a society in which they feel protected. Therefore, they destroy anyone who depicts change. They are unable to realize they disrupt the very society they think will continue to protect them. In fact, the opposite happens. The solution for this problem in our fast-changing economy might be one of regulation of free expression. One can think of various writer groupments with an intra-and-outer connections able to communicate with the public in a safe environment that is regulated by law. I think that in a post-plague world that is witnessing a fratricidal war in Russia which will probably replunge us to a new cold war, the legal instauration for the regulation of free expression could be the antidote to the destructive hatred and the hidden corruption of some individuals and groups. This regulation can only be achieved through legal rules that protect writers and journalists and the public interested in hearing their conferences, lectures, and readings.
