Contemporary Painting and Poetry

I think that both art forms reflect our contemporary views and lives through the media of images. Some of them are directly related to our everyday lives by showing basic images
of objects that surround us. Others make a comment on the political and social issues
of our time, especially negative ones to stimulate our critical thinking. Migration is
a critical issue that must be solved by all means to safeguard our societies.
Environmental issues are extremely important and some of the images are violent
both in poetry and in painting. Since painting is more direct, it influences us
very quickly but, as opposed to poetry, might be erased from our memories
sooner than a poem. Both art forms are mimetic of our daily realities and must
be taken seriously if we want to be involved with contemporary issues.
