Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize because he has the courage
to denounce the perverse effects of our society like obtaining
rank through brute power, like getting rich by stealing and loitering....
Like Bosch in painting, he has put these ills into sung poetry
over many many years. He is prolific. He still writes and sings
his heart. May we learn from his sung poems how to mend
our ways. In a concert he gave in the Montreux Jazz Festival,
he offered me the pit of his guitar when I said to him that
he sang better in my presence. He is a humble,
soft-speaking man with a generous heart.
